Chicken Stew-ish

The druid, upon waking, imperiously requested chicken, and soup.

Left with those terse instructions, I dug the defrosted, raw chicken breasts out of the fridge, put a little vegetable oil in the big frying pan, and plopped in the poultry boobs to grill. After letting those simmer for ten minutes, I grabbed a couple cans of condensed chicken noodle soup out of the cupboard, blopped those and some water into another pot, and set that to warm up. After thinking about it, I drained a can of corn and dropped that in too. After thinking about it still further, I grabbed a couple handfuls of baby carrots out of the fridge, roughly cut those into bite-sized pieces, and put those in a third pot to boil. I thought about it a little more, and seasoned the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, thyme, and sage.

When I could stick a fork through the carrots without the tines breaking off, I drained the carrots and dropped those into the soup-and-corn. With the chicken grilled and cooked, I diced the chicken into bite-sized pieces, dropped them into a bowl, and ladled some of the soup-and-corn-and-carrots on top. I seasoned the top again with salt, pepper, thyme, sage, and this time a little dash of basil.

The druid and I ate ourselves silly on the stuff. It turned out really, really good. Not bad for not knowing what the heck I was doing, the soup provided the broth, which turned really thick, the corn and carrots were heavenly, and omg the chunks of chicken, wowza. It didn’t last long.

I’m now considering finding a big-ass pot at Goodwill to make a bunch of the stuff. If I make enough, it may even survive to dinnertime. :P
