Dude, really…

This is one of those “omfg I’m getting older if I’m feeling the need to waste time writing/complaining about this” things, but damn.

Craigslist. A meca for community stuff, whether it be household items for sale, houses for rent, housepets needing a new home, whatever. There’s a section for free stuff. I frequent the free section daily, not that I have any way to haul needed furniture or transport heavy stuff without a car, but still…

Daily, there’s a subset of people who are not posting stuff that is free, but complaining that along with the advertised free stuff, someone saw something nearby that they assumed was part of the free pile, and took the other item as well. Most recently, some lady was complaining that someone stole her son’s bike out of the driveway, when they took the pile of free stuff also sitting in the driveway.

Really, people? There are so many complaints from people who direct people to take stuff from their garage, their front yard, their driveway, the side of their house, and then complain when stuff they hadn’t intended to part with gets mixed up in there.

Here’s a free tip: when you offer stuff for free and leave a pile for people to sift through, PICK YOUR OTHER STUFF UP AND PUT IT AWAY. How is someone supposed to know which clutter is meant to be taken and which is supposed to be left behind? Signs get misplaced, kids misplace toys and such, piles get scattered, and people with wishful eyes begin to look about for more loose stuff to grab.

Just sayin’.
