Round-Up
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
I started a blog (this one!) and didn’t end up deleting it in disgust. (Hey, it was a slow year.)
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make resolutions. I have hopes and hope to attain dreams but that isn’t dependent on what time of year it is.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A friend of a friend is close, if not already burst by now.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Chosen-mom, in late September. *pets her cat, sleeping on my lap*
5. What countries did you visit?
I visited Nowhere and Nada. I interact (virtually) with people in Canada, Australia, and England, though…
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
I would like to have a real, working car, with which I can finally find work.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Err, I can’t see the future.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting ducks in a row, successfully navigating another year with the druid. Oh, right, signed divorce papers from the ex!
9. What was your biggest failure?
I failed to tolerate the gamer’s almost abusive arguments with me.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
My gallbladder abruptly asploded back in June. On my birthday. Which required surgery. And I lost my first (adult) tooth. Which I had to rip out of my head.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I was given a cellphone by the dreamer, who works for a major wireless company. It’s just about the only reason that I have a phone at all.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Everyone gets a round of applause just for surviving the year.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Great confusion at the disproportionate arguments the gamer cornered me with–that was odd and made me doubt my intelligence more than once. In reviewing the conversations with the druid, and with other friends, I still do not understand where the conflicts came from. I just don’t understand. And I have strived to, well beyond the effort it should have taken.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, the druid’s cigs and beer… A nice little chunk thanks to holiday pay went into the purchase of the car…
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The prospect of having a car.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
“I’m on a Boat”, I guess.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier for having the druid’s company, sadder for the inability for birth family to accept me as I am, rather than be disappointed I do not bend to their sensibilities, which are not sensible at all.
thinner or fatter? Same, if a smidge thinner for lack of food at times.
richer or poorer? It seems poorer at times, but I’ve regained communication with a few former classmates through Facebook, so that’s not so bad, eh?
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Wish I’d looked harder for work, wish I’d known a mechanic to inspect the vehicle before we bought it.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Less tolerant of mistreatment would have been nice.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
The druid, the gamer, and I went out for dinner at the local bar (and escaped before the mad karaoke crowd arrived).
21. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve?
I imagine, doing what I always do, sit at the computer, think about stuff, and wait for the druid to get home.
22. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Every time I look into the druid’s eyes. (DAAWWWWW…)
23. How many one-night stands?
One night stand on the far side of the futon. And complete fidelity. *snickers*
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Gotta say, a lot of House was watched on Hulu.com…
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Newp. Hate is not a word in my vocabulary.
26. What was the best book you read?
Can’t say I read many, and none of them deserve the title of “best”.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Lonely Island, Lydia Decker, The Northern Kings, and Within Temptation (a hold-over from last year).
28. What did you want and get?
I wanted a car.
29. What did you want and not get?
I wanted a working car.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
You mean, if I’d bothered to watch any?
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was doubled over with stomach pain, and I was 35, and then 36.
32. What’s one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A second income, fer sher.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
As always, the slob. I just haven’t had the income to suppliment and make it more hip.
34. What kept you sane?
The druid’s presence.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Meh.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
They never do. It doesn’t interfere with my personal life, mostly, so I don’t much care. I know, apathy is dangerous…
37. Who did you miss?
Everyone I don’t get to talk to for whatever reason.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I have to say, the truck driver’s been rather amusing.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
I need to work on my communication skills, apparently. :\
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Blah. “We don’t need another heeeerrroooo…” *shrugs*
